Mr. Knox for years has always wanted to sail the world.

He was inspired by seeing YouTubers achieve it with their families, giving him the idea that he could achieve this goal, too.

He said, “If I was to sit on my death bed and 100…would I really look back and regret [doing this] probably not.”

Mr. Knox’s words for others who want to achieve dreams like this “recognize that you will always make some people unhappy and to do it anyway even if they’re your senior students.”

Mr. Knox says it’s affordable; you can find a sailboat for as little as $10,000 to fix up. You just have to not hit anything big. Mr. Knox also says, “People complicate life more than they need to.”

What’s the worst that can happen? His plans while on the sailboat are to homeschool his kids the first year they plan on staying in the Caribbean.

The second-year travel through the Panama Canal and sail west to the Pacific Ocean. They’ll then just follow the sun to the Caribbean again.

What he’s looking forward to is the adventure of learning about other cultures. Mr. Knox plans to stay on the sailboat anywhere from 1 to 100 years, depending on how well it goes.
