A lot of events are happening at Doherty to be excited for. The first semester of school is a big time for lots of fun activities for you to participate in.
Homecoming
We start October with Homecoming week. Make sure to buy your tickets on Monday, October 2. Friday, October 6 is an especially big day with the Homecoming Assembly, tailgate and the game. When asked what they are most excited for this year at Doherty, Sophomore River Rockwood said, “Homecoming. I mean it’s Homecoming. Who isn’t excited?”
At the assembly you get a chance to watch all different and exciting acts as well as get a chance to show your Doherty pride with different school chants. At the tailgate enjoy some delicious food and get excited for the upcoming game and the dance with some friends. Finally we end the day at the game. You get to watch the Doherty football team battle against Denver East in one of the most exciting games of the year.
It’s the perfect thing to get excited for the main event. The Homecoming Dance. Enjoy a lively party at Doherty High School with you and some friends. There’s dancing, music, food and drinks and lots of fun. Admission is $25 presale and $35 at the door. The dance is on Saturday, October 7 from 8 to 11 PM. Hope to see you there.
Veterans Day
The Veterans Day activities are a chance to show your respect for the Veterans who have fought for our country. On November 4 from 11 AM to noon a Veterans parade will be held. At this parade you can watch interesting sights and creative designs to celebrate the holiday. Later on November 10 a special Veterans Day assembly will be held. Here you can celebrate all the Veterans in your life or the Veterans who keep our country safe. There will also be other exciting things to see from the talented Doherty acts. Junior Colton Sweat said, to the question of what he’s most excited for “Sports because I just like being athletic and being active.”
Fall Play
Here at Doherty we have some very talented actors. Go show your support for them at the fall plays, Oz and the Audition. The play will start on November 2, and run through November 4. On the Thursday and Friday of that week or November 2 and 3rd the play will be held at 7:00pm. On Saturday, November 4 it will be at 2:00 PM. This play will show you talent, an intriguing and captivating storyline with many exciting moments and great characters to follow through the story. Freshman Kay Roden states, “I’m excited for the clubs to just meet new people and be involved.” The fall play is the perfect thing for exactly that.
Winter Assembly
Near the end of the first semester we have a Winter Assembly. Watch the Student Council perform funny skits. Learn what Winter Sports you can dive into. Senior Clifford Winterborrom had this to say about the upcoming sports. “I’m excited for track and field. It’s awesome to go compete.”
