High school can be hard. The hallways are confusing, some students are mean, the tardy policies are rough, and sometimes it is just a difficult day at school. We have all been there, the day keeps getting worse, bad hair, wrong outfit, etc. It is hard sometimes and we just don’t know what to do. There are many ways to go about your day to make it just a little easier. These tips and tricks I have gathered from other students and myself are small but make worlds of difference.
The first set of tricks I will tell you is to help to have your head clear and ready to learn. Number 1 always dress in what makes you comfortable not what you think others like. One thing I have learned is if I am not in clothes that are comfortable to me and my style throughout my entire day, I am uncomfortable, I constantly feel like others are looking at me, it makes me switch clothes just to be out of it or hide it. It causes a lot of distractions that I can’t even focus on what I am working on.
Number 2, be yourself but not in a way that hurts others. High school is all about growing, some of the most life changing things will happen and that can be hard especially when you don’t even know yourself. My best advice is to stay true towards yourself and beliefs. While I think it’s important to be yourself, you must do it so that you are still respectful to your peers. We are all here to grow into the people who run the world one day and negativity can gravely impact someone else’s way through life. It is better to be true to yourself with kindness because everyone deserves to be happy in their own way to grow. Plus, no one here tolerates bullying or rudeness. It’s best to be a supporter rather than the enemy.
Number 3, last for this category. Challenge your limits. High school can be scary and weird, but it can also be beautiful. A brand-new world is open for opportunities you might miss if you wait. It’s your time to shine and grow, but to do that, you must push your limits to know what you need in life and who you are. Finding yourself and becoming a young adult is the best thing in life, don’t waste it.
Category 2 is all the things to help you academically. These tricks will help you pass your classes to graduate out of here!
Number 1, Map out your day. In the morning, pack a bag and look online for what you’re doing for the day and write it in your planner. Continue throughout the school day to complete your work and cross it off in planner. This can help you to be prepared for the day and complete your work quickly. Nine times out of ten you will finish before the day is over, giving you free time to study or rest. It helps with procrastination, ensuring that not only does the work get done but you set yourself up to not risk procrastination and get the best grade possible. Homework comes first.
Number 2, get used to change. This school and world are constantly changing. If you stop or hesitate when change happens you will never get anywhere. Change can be scary and fast, but we must all find a way to adjust and become adaptable to change. If you’re able to embrace the change it will make your life a whole lot easier. Many things will change through your time here: the rules, the people, the food, the classes, and even your day-to-day life will continue to change drastically throughout this time. Embrace change, go with the flow and everything will be okay.
Number 3, big finale, do not be afraid to ask for help. High school can be hard and very confusing, sometimes we need a little help, but many don’t ask. Asking for help can be scary but many do not mind and are happy to help. It is always better to feel a little embarrassed than to be lost alone. Asking for help is not harmful and it can help you a lot. Whether it’s helping in a class, where to go, what to do in life, how you feel, etc. People are here to help and support you, to bring you up.
The only thing holding you back from your dreams are your fears. It will be hard, and you want to quit, but stay strong. These tips will help you get through your day to day, conquer your fear, achieve your dream!
