Do you like Halloween? Love it? Hate it? What do you think? What do your friends think?
We went around the school and asked students and staff what their opinions are about Halloween. If they like it or not and what is their favorite thing about Halloween. “I love Halloween!” Business Office Secretary Alyssa Lopez said.
Freshman Marley Unsiog agrees when he says he also loves it. We also got a lot of responses like our first student was named Jalen Jones. He said, “I think Halloween is mid, but I’m dressing up as Spiderman and trick or treating.” When we got the opinion from freshman Ivan Wheaton, he said, “I mean it’s alright.” We got some people that like Halloween and some people think Halloween is “okay.” But we did not get a single person that hated Halloween.
What is your favorite scary movie? We went around and asked that very question, except we gave four options. 1. Halloween 2. Friday the 13th 3. Hocus Pocus and 4. Terrifier, what would you pick if those were your options (put it in the comments!). Our average answer was Terrifier. Was that your answer? If you were given the option of Recces, Skittles, Troli’s and Gummy Bears what would you eat? The students at Doherty High school chose Troli’s. Do you agree with them?
Why was Halloween even made? Well, it was believed that on that day, the souls of the dead returned to their homes, so people dressed in costumes. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, the Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland are the people used to light bonfires to ward off ghosts. So if that’s how Halloween the holiday started, how did Trick or treating start, trick-or-treating traces back to Scotland and Ireland. Halloween also used to be called All-hallows or All· Hallowmas. Happy Hallowmas!
