The varsity flag football girls have insight into what’s going on this year, giving a look into their successful futures.

The Spartans have been making a comeback catching wins, not letting anyone cross lines on their field, crushing TVS 50-0 and on a 3 game win streak.

Senior Yaslin Segeniot talks about how she prepares mentally for a big game, “I listen to music, I gotta get hype for a game and bring that energy up because flag football is a very energetic sport.”

Flag football is a sport that requires hard work, commitment, and support. Senior, Gelasia Gonzales, values her team in many ways, “Everyone is so inclusive, it’s not a toxic sport and everyone is very loving. Everyone is always cheering each other on hoping to improve each other in the best way possible.”

Senior, Jada Symons, got into flag football from the introduction of her close friends last year, Alyssa Ramos and Madi Wittenborn. She continues speaking about their upcoming season, “I’m looking forward to having a great season with all the teammates and having a lot of fun scoring touchdowns.”

Motivating words to Senior Kelly Zepeda’s younger self gives inspiration to all the upcoming athletes, “Not everyone starts at the same pace, we all can get better, and we can extend the finish line or make it shorter than it needs to be”

Senior Sontee Keys shows confidence in her team to bring themselves to victory, “Since we’re such an athletic team I feel like we have the strength and domination to get through the challenge. We just need to learn from each other and help each other build.”

Junior Aubrey Smith is in other sports aside from flag football, “I play basketball and track. Almost all the girls have tons of experience in other sports, and it shows.”

Junior Bella Marquez wants to continue her passion for flag football, “I do see myself playing college flag football…I’m going to the University of Hawaii, but they don’t have flag football yet.”

We can say that Junior Nelah Thompson had a humorous story to share with us, “Last year, it was the first game of the season, we were playing on the turf field outside. I remember it was the first touchdown in a game; we blasted up the middle, I caught the ball, and we snapped it. A girl pulled my flag at the end zone but she lowkey gave me a wedgie, pulling my shorts all the way up and I ended up flashing some people.”

Senior Amoni Burns has many exciting goals and high standards for her future, “I want to get a scholarship and get good grades, I also want to end the year with over 46 credits,” Amoni also mentions where she wants to be in 5 years, “in a mansion and in a hellcat.”

All in all, the Spartans have had successful wins this year, from their impressive comeback wins and performances, to proving their dedication and teamwork. This comeback has shown commitment into their promising upcoming season and future goals.
