Are you tired of school, despite the school year only starting four weeks ago? Well, I know many of us are already exhausted and ready for summer to return. This is the 2025 to 2026 school year, and I am here to welcome everyone back and tell you guys everything we have going on this school year including any new sports, events, activities and anything that Doherty has gained this year.
As we come into this school year at Doherty, a few things that we might have all noticed is the new painting that has been done over the summertime and the new rule that was now established which are the securely passes- not being able to leave classes without a pass and only being able to be gone for 5 minutes which is definitely something we all don’t like or want.
Moving past all those non-exciting things, we can jump into all the interesting and exciting things here at Doherty. Sports is something that always starts as soon as the school year starts and they are football, tennis, cross country, volleyball, soccer, cheer, unified bowling, golf, and softball. These are all our amazing fall sports that many people here at Doherty play.
We also have different events that are going to be coming up soon that you all may want to attend, such as different games you can go out and support any of our fall sports and cheer them on, Homecoming is also happening here in about 3-4 weeks along with a spirit week leading into Homecoming day, stay tuned about the spirit days as we get closer to those upcoming weeks.
Also, along with that we have a car show where we have different cars that come out in our lower lot, and everyone can go out and view all of the cool cars and see what types they are and all of that fun stuff, they also have different food trucks you can go and buy food from while you tour the cars and may want something nice while doing so.
The last two close things we have is our fall assembly where we let all the fall sports walk out and we recognize all of them for what great things they do and just have a little fun assembly. The student council and different presidents and assembly host of our school do their amazing things. One of our last events coming up is the powderpuff football game. Two teams of different genders going against each other and they’re having a competition, trying to win while doing activities towards each other. But other than that, this is all we really have coming up so far for this part of the school year. As we creep further into the year though make sure you do stay tuned for any of events, activities, and or sports and assembly events.
As I wrap this up hopefully this school year is filled with nothing but activities and anything that everyone may be interested in or looking forward to. We also have different breaks coming up one in October towards the end of the month, another one is Thanksgiving break, and last Christmas break. Though some of you may have not known about our week off October break, but now you do, and you can get prepared for all the different breaks and start making all your different plans that you may want to attend or have yourself.
