NHS Values Scholarship and Service

The National Honor Society is a select group of students who have a 3.75 GPA, are in many clubs, and have demonstrated a commitment to community service. The NHS club at Doherty is supervised by Mr. Crosby, and currently there are 35-40 juniors and seniors; they are in the process of admitting sophomores.

The president of NHS, Orion Wilson, said, “NHS is a good opportunity for students to work together and make a difference in the community.” Orion originally applied because it was his goal to be in NHS. Katie Peterson said, “being in NHS is a good way to hold yourself accountable and a good way to build a relationship.” Katie originally applied because it looks great on college applications. They both got accepted their 1st year as a sophomore.

NHS meets once a month on certain Tuesdays in room 205. There are five staff members who pick whose applications get accepted, and then the Doherty staff votes on who gets admitted. There will be an induction for these outstanding students on November 5th. They will take an oath to uphold to the high standards they need to meet.
