Young Life

Young Life Club is a community in which a group of people join together to eat food, play games, and talk about their religion. Doherty has its very own Young Life club. However, Vista Ridge students do also attend these clubs and meetings. Everyone is welcome to this club no matter what you believe. Young Life’s goal is to help guide everyone’s faith. Adalee Johnson explains how much she loved the environment of Young Life. She says, “I was nervous to go, but once she got there she was so comfortable.”

Young Life is held on Mondays for the meeting part of the club. They meet at 7:19 with a different address depending on what the week is and what they are doing that week. They have many adventurous activities they embark on, such as rock climbing, game nights, volleyball games, mini golfing, hanging out, camping, etc.
Sponsor Mr. Erin Ahnfeldt says this is meant to be a place to explore your faith without judgement from others, and that it’s so great for those who are looking for mentoring from people who relate with you. If you don’t have anything to do after school and are looking for something adventurous, it’s open to everyone, and you can make friends; Young Life would be a great fit for you. Have you ever played rootbeer kickball? Well, the kids in the Young Life club have.
When asked, Sarah says, “ My favorite part of Young Life is building relationships with all the kids and growing deeper with Jesus.” She also claims that her favorite camp that they go to is Castaways. Castaways is a camp with lots of competition, zip lines, and many water activities. They also make two teams at these camps and go head to head in many different challenges, such as paintball, but with fluffy arrows, rock climbing, etc.
