Millennial Core Makes us Cringe

Millennials like to act childish for clout.

Millennials like to act childish for clout.

Have you ever watched someone do something so weird that all you can do is cringe? Most likely you stumble across what social media calls “Millennial Core”. This refers to millennials who believe that they can gain clout on TikTok and or Instagram by being insufferable. Examples of this would be adults using baby voices or acting like children to seem ‘relatable’ to the media. Millennials are those born between 1981 and 1996 and are in between Gen X and Gen Z, meaning they were one of the first generations to experience the internet in their lives.

Millennials on social media like to say that Gen Z is immature and don’t deserve all the hype they’re getting for being Gen Z. Many Millennials seek attention on social media in hope of getting famous, like many Gen Z influencers; however, the difference between the two generations is that Gen Z isn’t trying to put on a persona to act like a completely different age and or person. millennials may think that acting like children and doing very embarrassing things online will distract people from the fact they try and bully literal children online because of fame.

Even though many millennials aren’t showing themselves online, the millennials that do show face online have made a name for themselves for being insufferably cringey and always trying to start things with Generation Z. Millennials may be this way due to their jealousy of Gen Z and them being able to be unapologetically themselves when it comes to social media, which Millennials have been facing backlash by elders for using the internet after it was first introduced, which may have added to their desire to gain clout. Many millennials have also experienced lots of trauma due to their parents and might be to make the same mistake with their children, aka Gen Alpha kids, which would explain why many millennials are taking “gentle parenting” a little too seriously and allowing their kids to be chronically online.
