Doherty has many clubs. I’m sure you have heard of some like the Dungeons and Dragons Club, Duck Club, Gaming Club, Photo Club, etc. But I’m willing to bet that you haven’t heard of the Doherty Step Team.

The Step Team here at Doherty is a small club that teacher Donna Jamison put together for all kinds of people to join. This club includes certain dances you can learn to perform at assemblies, games, and more. You can interact with new people and even find new friends.
Jamison the advisor for the club, decided to bring it back to Doherty after a student who transferred from Palmer mentioned that they had a Step Team there and wanted to continue participating in it here at Doherty.
Freshman Tia Rose stated that she enjoys being a part of the Step Team because of how “everyone on the team bonds and acts like family for the most part. Everyone is so welcoming, especially our coaches Bry and Gabby. We communicate a lot, and nobody is left out.”
Sophomore Charizma McCall agrees that the team is fun to be a part of . She said that one of the best parts is that “you can connect with people through culture and [meet] new people. We like performing in gyms, and competitions and we are planning to perform at basketball games as well. It is also good for hand and eye coordination if you struggle with that so I really recommend joining if you really like dancing and meeting new people.”
