While Harvest of Love has taken place at Doherty for decades, more history is being made and we are helping those who are affected by the shut down. As of October 1, 2025, President Donald Trump and the Republican Party have shut the government down once again. The government shutdown was caused by political party disagreements over federal spending, foreign aid, and federal health insurance. Today, it is considered one of the longest federal government shutdowns in United States history. 

  Made even more important by these struggles, Doherty High School is hosting the Harvest of Love event. Harvest of Love supports the local Care and Share food bank to help those in need and families who depend on EBT. 

    Doherty High School has other events based on Harvest of Love like Soak-A-Spartan where the student council nominates people from each grade to get soaked. You can join or watch the staff against students’ ball and basketball games and finish up with pasta dinners that can feed families up to six.  One of the most fun and most popular events is the Lip Sync Battle which will happen on November 12th. This super fun school event helps raise support for the Harvest of Love event. Clubs and sport teams are invited to lip sync popular songs, dancing, and other entertainments. Community support makes the biggest impact, where all members of the community can support each other by purchasing baked goods, and participating in attractions.
