Have you ever thought about making a difference here at Doherty High School? Or have you had an upperclassman you look up to and thought you were going to be just like them? Well, now’s your chance, future seniors and juniors. For the school year of 2023-2024. Link Crew is looking for students to help lead the incoming class of 2027.

To be a Link Crew leader you should be someone who spreads kindness, enthusiasm, and most importantly, have school spirit. We all know what it is like to be a freshman coming to a big high school, it can be intimidating and nerve racking. All they need is someone to help lead them in the right direction, and help them along the way. Former Senior Link Crew leader Matt Lynn stated that, “Link Crew is one of the best ways to influence the culture and future of Doherty.”

He added, “If done well, you can shift an entire class’s attitude towards what high school means and their place inside of it.”

Being a part of Link Crew comes with great benefits! You get to grow as a person and determine what kind of leader you want to be, and what examples you want to set. You get to meet some amazing people along the way, do some great team bonding activities, and it looks good on college applications. Throughout the year you can go on “field trips.” For example, during Homecoming week you get to go to middle schools to have a mini Homecoming assembly. You also get to go to a conference at another school with other link crew leaders from different high schools.

Towards the end of the year there are High Trails. It gives you the opportunity to be a camp leader for a weekend, and guide middle schoolers. In addition to all this, there is a Link Crew class you can take where you help make plans for Link and its projects, let us not forget it is an awesome way to get an easy school credit! During 8th grade orientation you get to help support Sparta, and show potential future students all that we as Spartans have to offer. On top of all this, you also get a cool shirt that is yours forever!

So, if you are interested in joining the link crew go see Mrs. Scott for a slip! Help make a lasting change at Doherty High School.
